INTRODUCTION
Lean Construction Ireland (LCi) Client Forum first met in July 2019 with the purpose of providing an environment where clients (public and private) can come together to discuss their capital investment programmes and the delivery challenges and opportunities being faced with these. Through these collective discussions, the objective is for the LCi Client Forum to be at the forefront, and be the catalyst, for advocating for the advancement of Lean Thinking & Practices and continuous improvement within the Irish construction sector, and with a consistent “voice of customer” (VOC) communicated and understood.
PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
Feedback Lean Construction Ireland has received from the Irish construction sector over several years on how a change in the way projects are managed and delivered has been consistent – the leadership of this change must come from the client/owner.
Why? Because the client is making the investment in the project(s) and is the party responsible for establishing the
contractual arrangement and relationship under which the project(s) will be delivered.
To respond to this the LCi Client Forum agreed its purpose is to provide the leadership necessary to progress this
change within the Irish construction sector, and ensure the “voice of customer” is heard and understood in a consistent way, and to enable this the LCi Client Forum set itself a number of key objectives:
- To share the collective knowledge and experience of capital programme delivery to identify common issues, challenges, opportunities, and solutions.
- To provide the leadership necessary to achieve a change in a way that projects are designed and delivered through continuous improvement and the adoption Lean Thinking & Practices.
- To communicate the need for continuous improvement and change within national policies and framework guidelines with key State stakeholders.
- To contribute to and support Lean Construction Ireland delivery its vison, and the objectives it has set out in Strategic Plan 2022 – 2024

The LCi Client Forum is unique in that it is the only forum in the Irish construction sector that brings together public and private clients and their professional services providers to promote and advocate for the adoption of Lean thinking and practice in the design and delivery of projects, and this unique position is acknowledged by the sector.
