Leveraging Lean Construction Methodologies to help the Irish Construction Sector Transition to a Low Carbon Industry
The Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Bill 2021 sets ambitious interim targets for greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. Achieving these targets will require a step change within the Irish Construction sector and a fundamental change in how we procure, design and construct the built environment. Leveraging lean construction methodologies such as modern methods of construction are proven to decarbonise construction related activities and improve circularity within the wider construction industry. Greater adoption rates of these methodologies can lead to better outcomes for the environment and provide a means for which the construction industry can meet its environmental targets by 2030.
